Hair Transplantation – What You Need to Know

A hair transplant is a surgery that uses hair follicles from the back of your head (or side) to cover areas of baldness or to improve the density and size of thinning hair. This can give you a full head of hair that looks natural and healthy.

Before the procedure begins, your doctor will cleanse and numb the area where the hair will be taken. Then they will cut a strip of hair-bearing skin from the back or side of your head (called the donor site).

They then dissect this strip into small hair grafts called micrografts and minigrafts. The grafts are meticulously placed into the bald or thinning area of your scalp where you want them to grow. 부산탈모병원

The grafts are usually harvested using a special surgical technique called follicular unit extraction, or FUE. This method can be done in a single long session or several short sessions over time.

This type of grafting allows for very natural looking hairlines and avoids the “doll’s hair” appearance that was typical 30 to 40 years ago. It also minimizes the risk of follicle transection, which occurs when the transplanted grafts cause a hole in the surrounding hairline or scalp.

Another advantage of this technique is that it does not require shaving of the recipient site, which has been heavily debated in patient-based hair transplant communities. It is also much less invasive than the classic lateral (horizontal) incisions that bisect existing hairs, perpendicularly like a T.

These slits are often made with a sharp instrument that slides in and out of the existing hairs in a natural way, which prevents any transecting of the native follicles. Many elite hair transplant surgeons adopt a combination of these two methods, based on what is best for the individual patient.

Then, your doctor will use a scalpel or needle to carefully remove the grafts. During this part of the operation, the scalp may be sore or tender. You may have to wear a pressure bandage for a day or two.

Once the grafts are removed, they’re cleaned and your doctor will give you instructions for care. You can usually go home about three days after the procedure. You need to be very careful not to touch the grafts or to put any pressure on them. You should also cut down on exercise in the first month to reduce your chance of scarring.

You should be able to see your results after about six months. The new hair will begin to grow and start to fill in the area where you had your surgery. But it can take up to nine months for the new strands to be fully visible.

Your doctor will likely recommend medicine to help with your new hair growth and stop or slow the regrowth of future balding in that area. The medicines can help you keep your transplanted hair for as long as possible.

Some people develop a condition called folliculitis, which causes inflammation of the grafts or the follicles at the donor sites. This is very common, but is not a permanent problem. If you notice any redness, pain or swelling at the site where your grafts were removed, contact your doctor right away. They can prescribe anti-inflammatory medications or compresses that help relieve the pain and inflammation. 탈모병원추천
